Our Story

Chabad of Greater Rancho Park was established in 2022 to serve the Jewish community of Los Angeles. Chabad of Greater Rancho Park is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of affiliation or prior level of knowledge. Its sole purpose is to create a warm, welcoming environment to explore and experience Judaism's spiritual inspirations in a non-judgmental and inviting atmosphere.

Since its inception, Chabad of Greater Rancho Park strives to meet the needs of the community with religious services, social events, and an array of programming, including family holiday events, challah bakes, women's events, lunch and learn gatherings, Shabbat lunches and dinners, and personal mentorship and guidance.

Chabad of Greater Rancho Park is a local, independent, and financially self-supporting entity. Every dollar that we receive comes from the generosity of people like you. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are fully tax-deductible.

Meet the Beguns

Family Picture

Rabbi Yigal and Nechama Begun moved to Los Angeles and founded Chabad of Greater Rancho Park in 2022.

Rabbi Yigal's journey is one of deep commitment and remarkable experiences. He studied Jewish thought and practice in Los Angeles, France, Brooklyn, and Toronto, Canada, earning his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Dovid Shochat, of blessed memory, in 2018. In his teenage years, Rabbi Yigal embarked on a transformative mission, traveling to over 20 countries across the globe to support Jewish communities and make a meaningful impact wherever he went. His infectious optimism and joyful personality drive his commitment and dedication to his community.

Nechama Begun was born and raised in Toronto and shares her husband’s passion for connecting with people. Her extensive experience includes working with Jewish communities and running a wide variety of programs, including summer programs, all around the country. Nechama's heartfelt dedication and ability to connect with Jews of all ages have made her a treasured educator and organizer within the community. She also has exquisite taste that shines through all the events she plans at Chabad.

Rabbi Yigal and Nechama met in 2019 and married in March 2020, just as the world began to shut down. Despite the challenges of such unprecedented times, their shared optimism and dedication to building a strong Jewish community became the foundation of their partnership. As the world began to open up again, the Beguns saw a unique opportunity to address the growing need for connection and community. With people searching for deeper relationships and spiritual meaning more than ever, they expanded their efforts to create a welcoming space for all.
